Just clearances with different sized motors and an additional pipe per side on a V8 to the best of my knowledge.

Yeah I forgot about the difference in the header, but the X pipe shouldn't be any different unless its a different size.

If the collectors for the headers wind up in different places, the X pipe will start in a different place, powertrain dependent.

im going to diagree with you that he should worry about porting and boost before exhaust stuff. it would be pointless to try to get more air into the engine if he cant breathe out the exhaust. plus, exhaust makes it sound much better and makes a lot of power. longtubes will be too much for a p*ssy v6, but there is other stuff you can do. i would save up fora real engine and not mod the V6 besides a good sounding cat-back (just so you can have SOME fun with it)and other stuff that does not relate to the engine (since you are planning to swap), such as suspension mods.

Basani Makes a great X-pipe for our stangs, and they are universal I believe. Get the Off-Road Basani X-Pipe. Then Flowmaster Series 40's for a really agressive tone, and then get Test cut outs to place in where your cats would go, you will sound pretty close to a V8....

And to all you guys out that that said that a V6 could never sound good at higher RPM's, I beg to differ, a V6 with the same setup I just told him (3" pipe to 3 1/2" tips) It ROARS at higher RPMs and DOES NOT sound ricey. Listen here is the same setup I just described, its a small Audio File from 3.8Mustang.com http://www.3.8mustang.com/Media/Noncat%20Exhaust.wavLMFAO! Bet you guys never thought that kind of sound was possible out of a nearly stock 3.8L V6 did you MUWAHAHAHAHAHAHAMake sure to turn your speakers up good and high to enjoy the full sound of it. THAT IS WHAT V6 EXHAUST SHOULD SOUND LIKE!!!!

whoever said there is no way to make your 3.8L sound like anything but ricey should be slapped around

I just purchased a Magnaflow catback exhaust system ($365 including shipping), it comes with a Y pipe and I don't want to put it on until I can get a X or H pipe, some headers, and a CAI

im going to disagree with your disagreement. suspension, yes, but there should be more air going in before they really worry about getting it out (intake before exhaust)
