My $0.02...it doesn't sound like you'll notice a difference, handling wise, with a staggered setup. Since you prefer it looks-wise, that's what you should go with.

Seems like more meat would be a good thing.
Factory cars do it because it results in a car that tends to understeer, which is more difficult to lose control of than a car that is neutral or tends to oversteer.

Aftermarket companies do it because it's what a lot of customers want (and perhaps that's a factor for Ford as well)

Plus, really wide front tires do result in some negative daily driving traits, such as tramlining.

Ive been wrestling with this for a few days. I like the look of staggered and I don't plan to peel out...just take off fast. my goal is to NOT spin the tires. I just have one more thing to look up. If I take the Nitto NT555's to the strip (not the NT555r) do I need to do a burn out to warm them up...or do I just skip the water box and go?

street tires from the most part dont need to be warmed up. you can give them a quick spin to kick off any debris but no reason for burnouts

I'm curious about this too. I'm wrestling with going with a squared setup or staggered. I love the way the staggered setup looks, but I don't want to compromise the handling of the car if it is significant. On the other hand, the car is basically a weekend toy, and I doubt I'll ever really run it on a track. So, I'm not sure I'd even notice any handling disadvantages or not.

i seriously doubt youll notice a difference if you never take it on a track unless you drive like a maniac.

I think you are making a mountain out of a molehill guys. For everyday street purposes, staggering is not going to effect handling that much. If anything you will take advantage of the extra grip the fatties out back will provide from dead stop launches. The track under a stopwatch is another thing altogether, just ask yourself what % of your time is spent on the street and I think you will have piece of mind...just my 02.

yeah, I'm a straight line guy... street light to street light. 90% highway everyday to work. Staggered is the way to go. I think I just needed to think out loud.

Cuz it looks cool! I think the traction advantage of a wider tire is much, much less than people believe, given the exact same tire compound of course. I'm only speaking to straight line traction.
