Default Koni Srt.t rear shocks

I went to install my new rear shocks today on my 07 GT and was surprised that there was no mounting hardware included. I understand that many manufacturers are doing this but what has anyone done when their old upper rod bushing failed? I ended up just throwing the old worn shock back on for the time being. I didn't want to destroy the bushing trying to get it off without a game plan.

Any ideas?

Bob

just keep the old shock on until you buy new hardware for the new shocks.

That would be a good game plan except I haven't been able to find that bushing available anywhere - not even Ford (at least online).

Try calling ford and see if they can help locate them for you. If not you can just try to carefully remove the old bushings, use lubricant when and if you do it of course.

My bushings came right off the shocks.

The kyb's I installed came with all new hardware.

Did the koni's come with a new top nut?

Thanks guys. The Koni's came with nothing - no instructions telling you to reuse hardware or top nut/bushing. Well, they did include a Koni sticker in each box . I ended up removing the shocks again and removing the rubber bushing and metal 'cup' - exactly as Moosetang's photo. This car has been driving me nuts! With two little ones running around or napping, I don't have time to get into these little projects and have questions or problems. Now, I just have to wait for the front struts to arrive and have some more 'fun'. On the search for replacement lug nut now. No more stupid factory nuts that are just standard nuts with some press fit covers over them - pure junk.

I didn't even take the rear tires off!

Are you getting the same struts? I'm thinking about koni struts in the front.

Moosestang, 1st side, I took the wheel off (tore one lug nut up). 2nd side, tore two lug nuts up and was unable to remove wheel, so I did it with the wheel on. I have the Koni str.t on back order for the front too. I still have to order the GT500 strut mounts. Btw, nice bike. They used to make them not too far from me. I've thought about getting a Blast to putt around on and join the Road King in the garage but the wife thinks I have too many toys already!
