Question One Piece Driveshaft Must For DR's?

08 GT500
535rwhp

Was gonna grab some DR's since the performance tires grip like wet shat now.
Been hearing 1p driveshaft needed for safety with stock suspension.

I don't track her but would like to pull 3-4k launches every once in a while.
Otherwise driven daily like but only about 5k or so mi put on a year.

Info and advice?

I have an 09 GT that I put a Whipple on, and before I even got it back off of the dyno, my tuner highly recommended that I replace the drive shaft with a 1 piece. Not only because of the carrier bearing, but because they had actually seen some of the shafts actually twist. I went with the Dynotech alumunum shaft and it seemed to get rid of the clunking when shifting gears also.

I ran my car on MT 18" DRs for a season with the stock driveshaft. That was slipping the clutch at launch, and NO power shifts. If you are going to push the car, get the 1pc shaft, if you are going to baby it ,you will be ok for a while. However, eventually you will have to do it if you keep modifying, and I would install a DS safety loop just in case (especially if you run the stock DS)

When I broke both of my stock ds's it happened at the joint. I think this was intended to be a weak link in the ds. First time it was covered under warranty. It happened a couple months later and they said no sir!

a driveshaft loop with sticky tires is a great suggestion.I think all rear wheel performance cars should have them installed right from the factory.

At least get the safety loop if you're concerned for the time being. If you're just messing with it on the street a bit where you're just spinning the tires anyways it shouldn't be too much of a concern it's when you go to the track on sticky surface and start dumping the clutch at higher rpms then the driveshaft upgrade would be a great idea. If you'd like a driveshaft safety loop get in contact with me!
