Have heard both sides of this argument...

Pulley and a tune will void the powertrain warranty. I still have 60k left on mine, but I want a little more umph if you get my drift. I have always heard bolt ons do not void warranties, and depending on product brand, installation service, etc. It's the internal stuff like cams, etc that void warranties. Tune, I can see where that is a gray area. Thoughts?

The dealer will be able to tell the computer has been flashed, even though they can't tell the specifics. A lot of dealership are "ok" with minimal mods, however that would be a very specific conversation to have with the service manager. With a pulley/CAI/tune combo there's almost zero chance you will hurt something as long as the tune is from someone reputable and the car/fuel system is in proper operating condition.

Thanks for the input. I definitely wanted to go somewhere to have it tuned rather than doing a handheld one myself, and with just the typical everday driving (no track) I should be fine with everything lasting.

You will be fine with a mail order tune, I would suggest VMP personally, but Jon Lund is great too.

Cool beans. I'll definitely look into the vmp. I didnt realize it was a mail order one. I had a Bama tune in my 07 GT, but others have said take the gt500 to a dyno to have it tuned for better results.

A Dyno tune (if it is a knowledgable tuner operating it) will almost always usually net better results, but if you deal with a company that SPECIALIZES in GT500s you will be ok. They are a totally different animal than the GT. Justin at VMP has been tuning them for years.

Been looking at the VMP website. looking at going with the X4 tuner and doing all the installs myself since it's a pretty far drive from Augusta, GA to central FL. CAI and TB isn't too hard to do. Will just have to take time getting the SC pulley off with the removal tool. The idler pulley should go on pretty easy. then it is just a matter of installing the custom tune that they have loaded for me.

Yeah, I have another year on my warranty and only have 9k on the odometer. On the other hand, until I find some decent rubber with these 4.10s more power is useless anyway.

My powertrain warranty goes to 100k so I still have a ways to go. I only have about 41500 on it now. I still make take a gamble considering I'm not gonna be running it at the track, ******* it, etc. I just want it there for the occasional feeling of more HP.

Here's the thing with warranties.. you typically won't void your entire warranty for anything. The only reason something wouldn't be covered is it the failure was caused by the replacement part. If you flash your car because of the computer that runs everything - essentially your screwed. If you put on a catback exhaust that will not cause a motor failure, as an example. I can do anything I want to a motor, but my bumper to bumper will still cover my power window unit. best thing, is to try to ask around your area for a 'mod friendly' dealership. If you have a major failure - expect to open your wallet because if a tech from ford has to assess the damage - your done.
