Default Good news bad news....

Some of you may remember we’re in the process of making our toy into a Saleen Extreme. (or close to it)
Already has;
JDM stage 2 tuned Saleen S/C.
Eibach pro spring kit and Tokico D-Spec struts.
Adjustable lower, upper control arms, and pan hard bar.
Front and rear anti-sway bars.
20” replica Black bullets w/ 255/35 & 285/30 BFG KDW2

THE GOOD NEWS:
The Saleen center gauge pod and gauges have arrived.
The Saleen HID headlights have arrived.
The Saleen exhaust has arrived.
The Saleen complete body kit has arrived.
The Saleen badges have been ordered.
The Saleen brakes have been ordered.
The Saleen S/C hood and S/C wing are on the X-mas list.
The Saleen light bar (wish it didn’t have the chrome strip) and Saleen speedster tonneau cover are a little further out (can we make a valentines gift list yet?)
Throwing around the idea replacing our 20" bullets with replica Saleen rims (I think the '07 5 spoke are first on the list if they are available, just we’re not a chrome people)

THE BAD NEWS:
Took the Yellow Convertible GT off the road for the winter as of 10/31 and it’s currently setting on jack stands. Thus we’ll be starting its S L O W transformation into our dream car. I will be doing most all the work myself (except painting) so I’m sure I’ll be asking some questions as they come up.

Things we are not really interested in:
Not interested in the 200 mph speedo, but like the look of the rest of the gauges, even my driving, having a 200 mph speedo is unrealistic 98% of the time.
We will not be using the most inside tail-light black out covers. (we have sequential tail lights now and like them)
Not that I am price pinching but $3K for some headrests, little foam and seat covers? ! I believe this will be the last item of change, if ever. (yes it looks VERY nice but….for 3K I’ll buy more wheels not seat covers)
Carbon fiber front & rear splitters (I haven’t checked the price so real unsure here.. Looks great, but might shock me in price)

Couple of items to address:
I will hard wire in our Radar detector (Escort 8500 X50 Blue with ZR3 Laser shifter)
Install OTPDM for rear windows.
Install switch for Light Bar brake light (deactivates center brake light while top is closed)
Figure out if my idea of being able to manual shift the automatic transmission will work.
Replace all stock speakers and add two 10” subs and amp. (We’ll be leaving the stock shaker 500 in dash)
Install heated seats.
Install hands free cell phone kit.
Install remote start and alarm.

Again out of respect to those that have certified Saleen cars, somewhere on our car will it will say ‘clone’ and to reiterate from another post, we have NO plans to sale this car. But if the time came and we had to sale, we would never claim it as an authentic Saleen Extreme. (no matter how close it ever gets to the real car)

Sounds like just a normal Saleen clone to me, E's have internal work done. Sweet though!

You can get the wheels in silver.

I would do that, especially if you want a saleen clone. Not just a modded car with a bunch of saleen parts...if ya know what I mean.

Not to step on any toes!
yea I guess it may sound like a normal Saleen clone to some.
With a couple of exceptions, we already make quite a bit more HP then even the 07's S/C cars, our car handles as good if not better then a 'stock' S/C Saleen and we'll give up nothing in the braking department. (IMHO)
I understand fully the "E" has internal upgrades (to the tune of about $4500 in parts) but to add close to only 15 hp for that $4500 dollars. We'll be seeking OVER 600 HP when the time comes to upgrade the engine internals. (next winter) I'm not interested in the 7 spoke wheels at all, but thanks for the link.

Yea I guess to the untrained eye it'll be just a GT with normal Saleen bumper covers slapped on!

But yes I understand fully about looking the part and being the part! Will it ever be an 'E' car no! Will it be able to back up the look? Absolutely!

I'm not crazy about my current design ...I prefer 5 spokes myself...I've been thinking of dropping to an 18" to save weight...I'm not sure how it would look though....

ok I spent all of 10 min and I can't find a pic (lol got lost in a couple good older threads though!)
That is the big thing with the 5 spokes on the 07 'E' car. Saleen claims like 40 pounds lighter then their own '06 7 spoke wheels, but I saw no pictures on their site.
Yes I know they look like pre S197 5 spoke wheels, but to some those wheels look very nice!

Are you sure there is not a type-o here? [sm=insomnia.gif] I can't possibly see how you are going to get 355's under anything with a horsey on the front grill (especially on a 20" rim)

40#'s lighter is that each or the set? if each that would be impressive...I heard the stock wheels are in the neighborhood of 90#'s each...I'm sure with the tires...I read that so it may not be true....I've never weighed one...
