There should be a saleen 281 emblem on the left likemills says......however.....the blue ford oval is actually correct. Saleens do stillhave a ford emblem on the back.
I've got no Ford oval on my rear trunk lid. Only a square Saleen emblem on the right side and the S281 with supercharged underneath it on the left.

I updated my post just after mills was chiming in the first time. It is a '97 Thunderbird. See my earlier post.

...interesting.That might just be theconfiguration on the E's..... Non Extreme cars should have the blue oval on the right and the 281 on the left.

Here's a picture of what an 04 N/A or SC should look like. The wing that yellow car has on is correct (only if it's a 2004, though). 02-03 had side extensions on the spoiler. Pre-01 had no extensions, but a spoiler that resembled the 02 and 03.

Faleen's don't really bother me unless they go with the serialized bumper. Then that's where I draw the line.

+1 with the Chuckster [:@] The bumper numbers on this car are not in the right position. They should be more toward the corner of the bumper/edge of the headlight, not in the center of the headlight. If this car is a clone, that is fine - but if he is telling people it is a genuine Saleen - and worse, tries to sell it at a premium as such - then he needs tofollow the words of the famous Max Goldman (Walter Mathow from Grumpier Old Men)......"hey dick-head, why don't you do the world a favor...pull your bottom lip up over your head...and swallow!"

look at the Saleen decal on the windshield. It has some tint backing to it...I don't think that is normal.

I'll have to look at mine

Just open the driver side door. There should be a sticker there telling u that the car been modified by saleen and that it meets goverment regulations. It will also tell u production date. gvwr, etc. It wouldhave a new vin # platewith the year of production and car #.

The definitive answer, thanks.

IMHO, using some Saleen parts on a Mustang = cool, a nod towards a respected name, kind of like a tribute car.

Using lots of Saleen parts *plus a fake bumper number,* however, = very uncool, and kind of sad, not sure why people embarrass themselves like that.

Also, probably could have gotten a real Saleen of one kind or another for all the $ and effort put into the fake.
