What I meant by the 4:10s is that less rpm drop off occurs from shifting to another gear allowing the car to pull harder up top. The Extreme's have plenty of gear to get to 195-200 even with the 4:10s

+^1. Seems like 350/400RWHP is becoming the norm.

That norm aside from a few examples resulted from chrystler/gm's poorly designed heavy cars. If you look at their future offerings they are getting back in line with 300hp and 3k pounds in the coming generations. The 2010 mustang is shooting for only 315.

That's too general of a statement though. Depends on other aspects. A 435hp car that weighs 3,000lbs is gonna take a car that has 500hp @ 4,000lbs. Something you have to understand is, a lot of cars these days are becoming heavier and heavier even though they have more horsepower. Take the new Challenger for example. Car & Driver ran it at 13.1 in the 1/4. With 425hp that's the best you can do?! If my car had 425hp i'd be well in to the 12s!!! The car...is..heavy...period. I'm not here to argue by any means, but to say "435hp isn't much now a days" is "kind" of silly because it's not really true. I mean, how many FACTORY cars come with 500hp+? Quite a few, but a lot of them are Corvettes, Vipers, Ferraris, Lamborghinis and so on. You know what? They generally cost a lot more than our Mustangs. Even take the 320hp 98-02 Camaros (really 360hp because of under ratings). Even factory with their "pathetic" little 360hp 350ci motors can still run with some of the higher hp cars of today. There are so many variables that go with it. Trq, hp, gearing, weight, etc. Anyway, i've seen you post on the forums before and you seem like a pretty smart guy so i'm not knocking you or anything. Personally, 425-450 is plenty for me. Anything more than 500 and you're asking for tickets or death IMO.

Do you realize that works out to be 412 - 470 crank right? Give or take.

I agree with everything else but this...that has got to be the dumbest statement I have heard in awhile. Some people like power to improve track times, etc. 500bhp is maybe 430rwhp which is less than 80% of s197 supercharged stangs. Just because a car has 500bhp, doesn't mean tickets and death are coming. A 400hp and 500hp car are the same speed on the street, you can kill yourself in any car...it is a matter of self control

I never said anything about track..did I? Getting a ticket on the track is a new one to me? =\ If you're talking track, that is a whole different story, fine go for 1,000hp if you can. Street/DD use... 500..eh alright, I can say fine to that then I GUESS...600, 700, 800hp+?...what's the damn point of all that power? I'll tell you, in one way or another it's saying i'm hot s--- and I own the road and if you think your car is hot s--- too, then i'll show you that my car is more bad a-- than yours. I OWN THE ROAD. You just compared apples to oranges. Anyway, i'll stop. We see things differently, and that's okay but I will say this. Is 4xxhp (crank) a lot "compared to" a lot of muscle/sports cars today? No....okay, fine. Is it still a lot of horsepower? The hell it isn't.

Edit: I must say assuming your pictures isn't a product of PhotoShop in any way, the photographer did an excellent job of capturing your car in motion with such clarity.
