MONEY WELL SPENT!
Is this something a local Ford dealer could install without any problems? I take it that you had this installed in your Black-Jack-how much difference did it make? Is your Mustang a daily driver?

Yes, or a performance shop, or if you have a friend who is a mechanic, it only takes about an hour. The website says it will give you 40hp more to the tires, but I have seen time and time again on the roush forum where people have made a good bit more power than that. The last guy picked up over 60 to the tires.

Not only is it more power, but the tune I got from JDM, my car actually feels like it drives better than stock. The acceleration is very crisp and clean.

It is 100% safe for a daily driver, trust me I was worried myself at first and I finally took the plunge. The only regret I have is not doing it sooner!

I will warn you though, the moment you begin modding the car, you are hooked!

This VMP 500 kit is becoming very popular also. I've had several friends install it (do it yourself) and it has turned out great. I am considering it myself.

Thanks guys! I appreciate the info. Apparently both of these companies offer similar applications.

I have bought several parts from VMP too, the owner Justin is nice to deal with, just a little hard to get a hold of sometimes. The kits use the exact same pulleys, SCT tuner, both come with a cold air intake. The only difference is the JDM kit comes with plugs, and it is 2 different people tuning it.

That being said, you can't go wrong with either one. There are a lot of happy customers with either kit, my selling factor with JDM was that I was able to get Jim on the phone every single time I had a question about something, and they work directly with Roush on several projects.

Kyle, What kind of rpm do you keep your black jack limited to under hard acceleration. It's been 20+ years for me and my previous cars didn't seem to rev as quick as this one. I haven't tried speed shifting it yet and don't want to over rev it.

I would be lying if I told you an RPM off the top of my head, but whatever "feels" right. I have 3 mustangs, all 5 speeds, so I have just gotten used to banging gears.

Generally, you can just tell when the car starts to plain off and doesn't feel like it's pulling as hard as it just was, the problem with the roush is the rev limiter is set WAYYY to low (especially in first) on the stock tune, so you never even get close to where you need to be when it's time to shift. These cars run through the gears fine and as fast as you can pull the lever, however they don't like to be power shifted (keeping your gas pedal to the floor and just smashing the clutch between gears)

Do you use your traction control during hard runs?

Not at all, it kills the power of the car. These cars make so much instant power with the roots style blower it is very hard to get them to stick. I would suggest a sticky tire for sure. I put Mickey Thompsons on mine, but they don't last for ****, Nitto makes some sticky tires that last ok.
