Elevation and ET
A friend of mine went to the track on friday to run his 05 GT. I called him up on sat. to see how it went. He had 3 runs, all low 15s. I think his fastest run was a 15.2. I don't know his 60 time was or his trap speed. Now it was also his first time at the track, but i think that low 15s is way too slow for an 05 GT. I mean if it was a new edge GT then it would be a little more understandable. He raced another 05+ GT and beat him by about .2 sec. He also raced an LS1 T/A to which he lost by about 1-1.5 cars. We're out in El Paso, not sure what the elevation is out here. Does elevation affect the cars that much or are they all lousy drivers?

RE: Elevation and ET
El Paso is about 3500-4000' ASL depending on where the track is located.
Thats about 0.7-0.9 of a second so he would be running 0.7-0.9 quicker at a sea level track.
14.3-14.5 is likely typical of a beginning racer running 2.3-2.4 60's and not powershifting.
Thats about where he is when altitude is considered. A New Edge with a 1.9 60' would eat his lunch.

ya that is around the same elevation as up here and s197's typically run mid to high 14's up here
he is a little slow but not everyone can get the best out of their car the first time out
