Default First Kill

I was out running errands with my sister today and had a new edge GT pull up next to me at a light. He revved his engine a few times, which sounded nice, I nodded my head and waited for the light. No traffic on the road at all, so there was no immediate danger.

Light turned green and we floored it. I pulled away from him about a second or two after and he never caught back up. We gave each other thumbs up and it was nothing but smiles on both of our faces. Glad to see that he wasn't upset or anything.

Is it uncommon for a S197 V6, to beat out a New Edge? I'm sure had there been a lot more road he would have beaten me. If it was a MT, maybe he shifted wrong? It feels good beating out a V8, but I'm guessing this was a once in a life time type of thing. Not sure what his mods were, but he definitely had exhaust work done.

I really wish I had a Go-Pro to mount on my dash. Not to see the race, but to see the look on my sisters face.

I'm sure your gearing and tlok helped you immensely out the hole, but I doubt that guy gave it any juice past 1st gear lol. There's really no way a new edge GT is going to get trumped by a 4.0, unless you are supercharged or turbo'd.

Chances are he just wanted to see you run and hear your exhaust. You sure it was a GT?

Either way, sounds like you had fun. Good mods on your car man, post up some pics sometime for everyone to ogle haha.

I figured that. It was still nice to beat out a V8. I won't be racing them in the near future. I don't want to get stomped on.

I'm almost 100% positive it was a GT. If it wasn't, then that was the loudest/nicest sounding V6 I have ever heard.

I'll post some pics, but it's nothing to ogle at. These were all before the suspension was put on. I'll get updated pictures if it stops raining today. Maybe a walk around? I don't think i've posted what my exhaust sounds like ever on here.

And my favorite:

Nice looking ride but I agree with everyone else. Either the guy wasn't racing or it was sixxer. Good run tho man. Are you planning on going FI in the future??

The suspension work helps your time a little. Did you install brackets when you lowered the pony? Brackets will help your dig.

I'm thinking he wasn't running. If I see him again, I'll confirm if it was a GT and then set something up where he actually tries. Haha. It's not that hard to miss his car. Different color doors/hood from the rest of the car.

I've gone back and forth between FI and going all in with a 5.0 swap. I don't ever plan on selling the car, and wouldn't want to buy a '13 GT. 05-09 has been the best body style of the S197's. I know that the 5.0 would be crazy/money pit, but to have the 5.0 in it would be worth it. I'll probably going the FI route. Won't know until after I pay off my car.

Didn't install brackets. I don't really have a problem from a dig. I slam the gas, the rear doesn't sink and I just go. I'll look into it though. Thanks!

I don't think its impossible for a intake/tune/gear/exhaust 4.0 to outrun a stock auto NE, especially if it was a poorly maintained one.

I vote it was an auto car, or he blew the tires off on the launch if it was a 5spd. Way funkier things then this have happened on the skreets for me to write it off as the other guy wasn't trying.

Good kill op.

Well you got a few mods. So I'm going to go against the grain and say you could win a short race if the other car had a bad launch.(Less than an 1/8) Congrats on the kill. But a longer race goes to the V8 car.
