It's easy to claim abuse or joy riding. I worked for a Chrysler dealer when I first got out of high school. I had one customer accuse me of joy riding in her car when I was asked to deliver it to her after she had left the car for service that day. She lived a couple of cities over (small towns located back to back) from the dealers location. I drove it over there and stopped at a convenience store to get a local map because I wasn't familiar with the individual subdivisions in the town and didn't know the exact location of the street she lived on. It turns out that she was aware of a few backroads from her place to the dealer that I didn't know about. The route I took put almost 10 miles more on the car than her route would have and she naturally "assumed" that I was having fun at her expense. She was wrong.

Yeah I worked at an independent ship for a while. We had a guy come in and told us do whatever we had to do to get the computer ready to be emissions tested. It took fifty miles to get all readies and he complained about joyriding. It takes time sometimes to figure things out its easy for you because you drive the car every day. It takes us a while sometimes to figure out what is normal and what shouldn't be there as far as noises or behavior all cars are different.
