Default The Prowler, I do not fear it

I was on the way to the store on a two lane road and in my rear view a Prowler came up on me really fast. It was red, but had a flame paint job. The typical Prowler pilot was at the wheel; big sunglasses, spiky hair, Linkin Park blasting. Anyway, he wasn't happy with the 5mph over I was doing and made a pass by getting into the oncoming lane of traffic and "sped" past me. There wasn't anyone around and I was really tempted to race them then, but the idea of him in the oncoming lane, regardless of how perfect it seemed, I didn't bite. He merged in front of me so I could see his huge custom metal plaque on his back bumper area that said "HAULIN' ASS." Guess he was in a hurry to go eat hot wings and brag about his heterosexuality.

Anyone ever race one of these things? Basic research says it's a 250hp V6 in a 2900 lb car. Sounds like it'd be decent (high 14's I guess) but the performance data shows 16 second 1/4 times.

Yeah, not too much to be worried with when it comes to the Prowler... Only seen a couple in my lifetime, spanked on one hard with the Denali last year, maybe 6-8 CLs?

Looks like they run mid to high 14s for the later model years, and 15s for the older years.

Indeed they are. So much could have been done with those cars, the motor they used is just poop.

Prowlers fail (imo). Your description of the driver fits the profile for sure.

I was pretty upset with them. Good looking car for such a lacking power train.

Yeppers.

I wouldn't mind this 6.1 powered one though: http://www.prowleronline.com/ubb/For.../003088-3.html

Even @ stock HP/TQ ratings (which this one is not) it'd freaking fly.

There was one at the mopar nationals a few years ago with a blown 5.0 in it...

i think that the car would have been more successful even with something as simple as a manual transmission. how can you make a sporty roadster like that and not even offer a manual?

although, id have to see a stock auto jetta beat one...the prowler is a turd for the price and expectations, but its still faster than a jetta. i believe that in stock form, they are still at least mid 14 second cars...

I don't know why someone would buy a Prowler over a Miata or MR2 (in that era). There were just better roadsters out there.
