New 5.0 owners
I keep reading that the new camaros are beating the 5.0 and even that the ls1 are giving them a good run. I was just wondering what your experiences were and if anyone on here has run any camaro and what the result was. You could throw in cars you beat or lost to that are supposed to be fast like the callenger etc if ya want lol.
I have actually looked around on the net. It seems I just get the 5.0 dominates and i also get the 5.0 is still slow half the time.

The 5.0 is a bit quicker, but the cars are close enough in performance that the drivers will have the biggest impact on the outcome. That goes for any car if you want to know the truth. I'm not saying a torque monster is going to take out a GT500, but whenever you have 2 vehicles that are within half a second and trap 2-3 mph of one another, the car that is piloted by someone with the driver mod will win every time.

Totally agree with above. I lost to a new Camaro when I first got my car because it was my first time trying to launch the car and I spun through first and second gears. It was embarrassing... we didn't get a chance to run again.

theres a vid on svtp of a stock 5.0 racing a cammed ls2 GTO and only losing by 1.5ish cars. with an intake, tune, xpipe it would be total opposite. not bad for what? $750 worth of mods? also seems like some bolt ons and tires and 11's are no sweat

it should be $750 worth of mods but they are raping people right now.. just like when the 3 valve was new apparently.. right now for brenspeed's stage 1 kit (steeda intake, off road x pipe, cat-back mufflers, and the sct tuner with tunes) is $1500..
i guess if you wanted just the performance it's 699 for the intake+tuner and 400 for the midpipe.. so 1100.. and it includes tunes.
but yes still.. not bad performance for 2 mods and a tune.

Seriously there was avid on here a while back of a 5.0 w/ full ehaust, CAI, and a tune makin 425hp!? thats crazy!
No matter what ppl say about the new 5.0 its a damn good car..and with little mods..it can be handful for any street car.

people have hit the 430whp mark with just intake+off road mid pipe+dyno tune.(i'm not sure if htey had something else to boost that up, like smaller wheels or a driveshaft, but the claim was just those) so no full exhuast even needed.. infact, I've only seen 1 person with headers yet, and no dyno or 1/4 mile numbers to show for it..
