Rough Horsepower Estimate on my 5.0L
I just got a new SN95 Mustang that had a 5.0L swapped into it. (was a V6 car) I was curious as to see what kind of Horsepower it is putting out given the mods done to it. I am aware of my staring point at 215hp, but unaware of how much the completed mods have added. I know that each mod alone doesn't add large amounts of Horsepower, but each one adds up. Anyways here is the list of completed mods under the hood: Accel plugs, wires, coil, rotor, and cap, BBK short tube headers, 1" intake manifold spacer, BBK cold air intake kit, BBK valve covers, Pully swap, A/C delete, electric cooling fan, larger throttle body, larger Mass Air Flow sensor, BBK X-pipe, flowmaster high flow cats, flowmaster 40 serious mufflers, GT40 intake manifold. My rough guesstimate would be 250-270hp. Am I way off?
Lastly I would like to note that I picked up this car a few days ago, and I was not the one that completed any of the work on the car, so I am unaware of what all has been done, just what I can see. Also the guy I got it from rambled off everything so fast I can't remember everything.

basically the major mods posted that actually helped make power are the midpipe and gt40 intake. OP, if you're talking 250-270 hp at the flywheel(which is where the factory 215 rating came from), then you're probably spot on. If put on a dyno I would guess around the 235whp area. a good bump for you would be a decent set of heads. starting with a set of normal gt40 cast iron heads that can be had for pretty cheap. Pair that with mild cam and you'd be in the 280 whp range.

I bought a 94 and took it on the track just out of curiousity. Did 4 passes and it was anywhere between a 15.3 and a 15.1. I have since sold it, I found performance upgrades for this car were hard to find. I'll guess that your car is about 230 hp.
Something else I have learned, is that 90% of the bolt on stuff that the manufacturers claim will bring about half of what they claim. Bang for buck would be a hand held tuner
