Default Engine Ping / Brake Problem

ARGH!

I have a 2000 / V6 55K miles w/ extended warrantee Several months ago I took it into the dealer with two problems. 1) Brake pedal makes a crunching sound (and feeling) when it is pressed. This sound comes from INSIDE the passanger compartment near the pedal (not from outside near the wheels). They replaced the power booster for the brakes (covered in warrantee). 2) Clutch pedal rattles when idleing or when slowing down. The pedal itself rattles and makes a sound. Also, it has little crunchy feeling when pressing it to the floor-it's not smooth. They replaced some cabling.. and it worked fine. I wasn't very happy with their service because they got greasy handprints all over the outside of my car and were rude when I came back asking them to wash it :-)

Well, several weeks ago BOTH problems returned, and a new problem has started. For about a month now my engine has been making rattling sounds when accellerating (always just above 2500RPM). I took it to a different dealer and they said the break problem just needed some lube on a bushing (not covered under warrantee and $75) the clutch pedal felt "normal" to them... and the pinging was because of "bad gas" I told them i have tried different gas stations and different octanes and it still seems to do the same thing.. every time I accellerate or get on the freeway. They said there was nothing I could do except have them "clean out the engine" for $275!!!!!

Something isn't right!!!!! Anyone have some opinions!?!?!?!

Thanks!!!!!!!!
Alex

Well man Ive got an 83 stang with 3.8L V6 , My car pings too, not all the time just at certain gas stations, I just octane boost it usually corrects it, There is anothe thing to look out for on youre stang if youre engine will run rough or grinding, Ive been told that new stangs with 3.8 V6's 1995 to 99 usually have a problem with bottom end crank shafts.

How long have you had it? If stuff keeps going wrong there are lemon laws. Try some new plugs combined with better gas and see if that helps at all. Don't know what the hell "cleaning out the engine is" unless it's just a coolant flush and oil change. What you can do to try and pinpoint the rattling if it is coming from the engine is have someone rev it up to that range and then get a dowel or something like that and put one end to your ear and the other around the engine. It will work like a stethoscope and you should be able to get a general area as to where it is.
