Could I get a decent trade?

Could I get a decent trade?
Having bought a 2013 GT, I am thinking of trading or selling my 2005 V6 convertible. It Blue Books for around $7000-7500, but rather than getting cash, I would prefer to trade it for a decent 1st gen, something in a '70 or earlier. I am looking for a V8 small block (260, 289) with an auto trans. Obviously I'm not going to come out of this deal with a K code fastback, but I am looking for opinions from other Mustang owners as to what might be fair.
Car is below...
It's still in great shape with no problems and no leaks. Engine is bone stock. It has just passed 100k on the odometer. The console has been custom painted to match the exterior and I have an extra console, extra hood, and all of the takeoff parts from where I upgraded except for the factory rims. There is a bit of curb rash on the right side rims, but the tires are almost like new.
Please understand, I am not plugging the sale here, I just want a good idea of where I should be on this.
Upgrades are:
Retro headlights
blackout turn signals
Roush hood scoop (not pictured but installed)
5 spoke rims
rally stripes
custom painted running horse cover
matching mirror covers
custom painted console and side pieces
interior trunk release
matching piping around the interior door trim
GT/CS side scoops
Coyote tail lights with sequential flashers
rear side marker blackouts
deck panel blackout
third brake light S-197 decal
Convertible light bar.
blacked out fuel cap emblem
Thoughts?

To try and trade you will greatly limit your options, as you would be hoping to find someone that wanted what you have, as well as having what you want.
Just sell it, put the money in the bank, and add $100 a month to the account till you find a car you like and can afford.
Heck I googled Mustangs for sale, and found several sites with listings under $10,000.
What ever you do good luck.

Wow! For once AK is right!
Trading often hurts people that can't wait! I'm buying a 2016 GT, & dealers would die to get my mint 2012 F150 XLT Ecoboost 4x4 Crew cab because I can't even find one anywhere on a dealers lot. The Ecoboost truck is the best thing on the market! Waiting for the right buyer to come along will likely get me $3 to 5K than a trade in. When you are in a hurry, you usually lose money & flexibility!

There is also the convenience factor to consider as well. I almost always trade my cars in just because all the paperwork gets done, plates are transferred, registration is issued, etc. To me that's worth the hit I take. That being said, if you're just trading with a private party then, by all means take your time and wait for someone who really wants your car. A dealer will give you absolutely nothing for your mods and often you will take a hit because of them. Good luck. I tried to do the same thing with my 2011. I wanted a late 60's Chevy C10 but couldn't find anything. Keep us posted!

That's so true, my time has great value to me, so a small hit to save time is worth it, maybe when I'm old and have nothing better to do, then I will waste it on trivial things like saving a few bucks.

The few bucks can easily be $5000 or more, if you don't pay attention as you get hit on both the sale price & the trade in value. I do understand that with the opulently wealthy such an amount isn't worth their time.
