wowwwww

common sense? tell him that an air filter, does just that. it filters the air. that might maybe just mean that an engine isnt supposed to have dirty air in it.

clean the MAF, buy a cone or put the stock airbox back on

well i put his maf on my 96 before we cleaned it and it made it run at 1100rpms idle. so i started his car at the same time with no maf and guess what it idle around the same. i got to fix his cai because it crack so he took half of it off.

so i sprayed out the idle controler thingy and the I sparyed out the maf. lightly and i do mean lightly sprayed it out.

hopefully nothing entered his engine due to no filter and his maf could be damaged from no filter on it also. i say fix the intake system and go from there.

Clean that maf!

96-00 V6 Maf's all have the same part number and worth with 14 or 21lb injectors, dont ask me why they do, they just do.

I had the stock 96' MAF on my 00' swap with 21# injectors and then I bought an 00' MAF just in case and still didnt have a problem.

I have my 96' MAF up for sale, its partially polished on the outside and needs to be finishes. I would do $30 for that if your interested, $10 dollar shipping anywhere in CONUS.

btw you really ought to have that mesh screen on the stock MAF as it helps to smooth the air for the meter, you also need a length of tubing infront of it otherwise it also modifies the air velocity.
