3rd time replacing heater core?!?
Alright, today i brought my car down to the shop because my heater core went...now the kicker is that this is the 3rd time this has happened in the last year, and it's a ford heater core not aftermarket. I was just wondering if anyone knows of a reason why this could be happening over and over again. I mean these things are supposed to last like 8 years, and for some reason in my car there only lasting 4 or 5 months?!?!?!?
And on a different note, anyone know why my down flow o2 sensors (bank 1, sensor 2 went twice, now bank 2 sensor 2 went) would be going bad repetitively since i put an exhaust on the car?

the heater core problem could be due to dirty/bad coolant, try having it proffesionally flushed at a dealer/shop. Your coolant is most likely contaminated and causing the heater core to wear from all of it sitting and collecting in the core when the engine is not running.
Usually the thing that takes out o2's is some type of mix up in the combustion chamber, like burning oil, running rich, etc. but are you sure its really a bad o2? things like an exhaust leak can cause them to read incorrectly and sometimes places just replace them when that wasn't even the problem.

As for the coolant being contaminated, I highly doubt that because I replaced the radiator and put in all new antifreeze like 4 months after the first heater core was put in, and I still went through 2 more after that, and the shop flushed it all out the second time it happened. The guy at the shop says that it might be a pressure issue? could that be true?, and why would it get more pressure all of a sudden, i could understand less but more after 130k miles when the engine hadn't been touched?
as for the o2 sensor, i'm sure it was the o2 sensor being shot, shop checked the sensor after it was off the car and it was done each time. although this last time with the sensor 2 bank 2 i think something else is up cause it would through the code for like 3 days then go away for 3 days
I'm just f%#$ing clueless about this wtf is up wit this car now adays guess the 140k miles is just catching up with it :-/ still would love anyone's input on problems though

Well I have an aftermarket heat core for sale if you would like to try that one.
$50 shipped to your door. I bought it for another mustang I was going to buy and ended up not needing it.
Just PM me if you want it, I dont check back through threads much.
