well, i decided to put the money in my 87gt, but i am still interested in this, so if anyone has any info. i researched a little and it seems the 94+ 3.8 is differant than the 93- so the thunderbird SC motor, or supercharger probably wont work. and the dyno numbers for the vortex sq trim are 278hp(flywheel probably) couldnt find any torque numbers but probably around 310ft/lbs. which is very good for a 6psi kit on a v6. add some gears, and you gotta fun, insurance friendly daily driver.

the 96' 3.8L has 150hp stock, a 5hp gain from 95'. Your main bearings are still weak and your main caps still made of an iferior material and casting design. In 98 caps beefed up and bearings improved.

Your compression ratio is low, I believe 8.1:1 or so and the pistons are cast if I recall correctly. The rods themselves are just a cast material, I-Beam. It has been said that the stock 94-97 engine is good for 450hp for a short while (Months) and that 300hp is safer.

A SC T-Bird runs at 12psi I believe, It is an eaton M-80. If you take the general rule of thumb that 10psi = 100hp then you are looking at 120hp more (Generalized) to take your overal horsepower to 270 (Enough to compete with the 99-04 GT's 260hp) Then if you go to the next step of Full length longtube headers and X-pipe and true duels then you can add a safe 30 more ponies (Higher in the RPM curve.) So now you are running a cool 300 +/- ponies (Tuning is needed of course) and that is enough to run with some Cobra's and the new Ford Mustang GT (Well, its suspension geometer is a whole lot better then our 79-04 basis) Carefull tuning and illimination of needed strain on the engine helps to bring power out of the most dosile of creatures.

Sorry I dont have any dyno specs on file right now but I hope that I have helped a little bit. If you are wanting alot more power then I suggest a 99-01 Splitport engine and rebuild that sukka
