engine conversion, i need real advice
hey
i own a 2003 auto v6, im wondering if i should keep my car stock and trade it in after i pay it off or if i should look for a used v8, swap out the engine and tell the insurance company?
im looking to spend around 2000k, excluding price of labor fees
where can i find a good engine? should i just wait to trade in, and if i do swap. what else do i need?
thanks

Keep your V-6. Do a Trans-go Shift kit, Motive 3.90 gears with a T-lock, CAI, and if there is any extra money do a complete exhaust system. that should give you enough fun an be runnin low 15s atleast
thanks guys...but if i choose to mod my v6, wont it be harder to trade in for a gt later? i really want that v8, and i didnt get it at the time of purchase because of parental/insurance reasons. but i guess what would be more practical?
If you are definately going to trade it in don't mod it at all, however:
T-Lok: www.gefracing.com
Exhaust: www.mustangtuning.com (or a GT takeoff)
Gears: search online for best price on FRPP or Motive sets
Flash Tuner: Search online for the best price on a new SCT XCal 2, or for a used Diablo Predator or Superchips Max Microtuner

right, but what would you do?
a) get a used 4.6L or a 5.0 L
b) get a ford crate engine for about 2k
c) mod the v-6 which probably total as much as it cost for a swap
d) keep it stock/trade in

well if your lookin for a 5.0 or a 4.6 then i would guess your lookin for a pre 99. If that is what you want for a GT then keep your V-6. The 99-04s are a split-port injection and the 96-98 are single port injections. You can do very few mods to your car and you would be able to take a pre 99. If you really want a GT get a 99-04.

I have been considering an engine swap as well or even selling my mustang to buy a gt. I have a 99' coupe 35th anniversary edition 5spd. I visited my local dealer for ford racing parts such as the t-loc and such but after talking to the sales rep he said after the cai exhaust and tloc its not worth it to upgrade the v6 much more because of its potential so i have been considering and engine swap as well. i was once told that the f150 engines are a direct bolt in for the mustang, such as the 4.2l v6 or 4.6l v6. Can anyone verify this information?
