I bought the tools for my rear and it works wonders. IDK about a V6 rear but the Cobra is stiff to push in, not saying it's impossible to do it with pliers, but I could deffinitely see the process taking a lot longer than with the tool, took me all of 30 seconds or so with that thing.

nah, I've done the rear brakes on my car many times without the tool. On the mustangs the brakes are all pretty much the same (as far as function goes) i do believe the "hydroboost" is just a different form of power brakes that use hydraulics (far smaller) as a power assist rather than vacuum. In factory form most are twin piston fronts and a single rear. One helpful tip for the fronts is when you press the pistons in instead of just using just a c clamp, place the OLD pad on top of the pistons and then put the clamp on the pad and press them both in at once, and like lilroush said (one of the FEW helpful suggestions he's made ) just use a large pair of needle noses on the back. it'll work wonders lol

Yeah my fronts can be done with a C clamp but the rears have got to be done with that special tool cause of the amount of force needed to depress the piston because of the hydrolics. I bought the whole brake kit cause my dads truck is the same way. So now we don't have to go to a shop to do brakes.

I don't use the tool on the rears. I think I posted way back when this thread started, just stick the tips of needle nose pliers in there and twist it back in.

C clamp the fronts back in place. Pretty straight forward.

DONT FORGET TO REMOVE YOUR BRAKE FLUID CAP BEFORE COMPRESSING ANY PISTONS BACK IN!!!! My buddy called me a few weeks ago and asked me to come help him do his front and rear pads. We got the fronts broken down and I told him I would be right back I was gonna grab a drink... came back and he blew out his brake line.... He was like... wtf this is what the dude told me to do on the computer.... I was looking at everything and asked during my inspection if he remembered to take the cap off to the brake fluid resivoir.... he was like..... huh? I lold.... ended up running new brake lines for him
