Default ac compressor leaks at center seam

have a 3.8l, trying to revive ac. Noticed it was low on freon so starting adding freon but not holding a charge. So I got some soapy water in spray bottle and have bubbles coming from center of compressor where it goes together at the seam.
Never had a compressor broken down so is there a giant o-ring at the seam or is it non repairable?

There is a O ring but for the price to recharge the R134, plus purge the system (required when opening the system at all), plus replacing the dryer unit (also has to be done when opening the system according to my Haynes manel) its cheaper to delete the A/C.

cost is not a problem as deleting the ac in south florida is not an option. And replacing everything as the system is opened is ok as long as the cool breeze comes back.

There are rebuild kits and how-to's available online, you just have to search for them.

thanks, have found a few tutorials already on a rebuild. Will just get a new compressor for now and rebuild leaky comp and have a spare if need be.
