Default Stupid Question?

So I am trying to change the serpentine belt on my girls car. Its an 03' V6, know I put a ratchet in the belt tensioner and turn clockwise. I've changed the one on my GT and it was rather easy and that's considering it's 7 year's older. But when I try to turn the one on the V6 it barely moves...am I doing something wrong? I couldn't imagine it needing changing as the car is only 6 years old and has low miles. Anyway I know it's probably a stupid question but if you guys could help me out it would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance!

sounds like youre turning it the wrong direction. and id use breaker bar or long wrench for more leverage. just put the tool on the tensioner bolt and push or pull towards the passenger fender
