Default 2.3 bad idle

I bought a 90 2.3 auto for my daughter who will be driving in a year. It's in really great condition but has a few problems to work out. Starts great, runs 20 or 30 seconds ok then starts to stumble and eventually dies. Always starts up but doesn't like to idle smooth or sometimes not at all. Codes set are Map, replaced it. Profile Ignition Pickup Signal ( whats that mean ?)I replaced the ignition module and the 02 sensor. Made a plate and blocked off the EGR, still does it. Any ideas, I would greatly appreciate. Thanks

yes I did check the timing, if ya give some gas when it starts to die it will keep running. Actually the car runs fine, it just doesn't like to idle. Sometimes it will keep running at the red light but you can tell it wants to die. I've also replaced the fuel pump, fuel filter. My ole 77 F250 doesn't do this, uses alot of gas but it doesn't have a ton of sensors and a computer, hmmm. Thanks for your input

Had the same problem with my old car....93 Ford escort....at red lights the car would start to shake a little bit then get worse and worse and die. But like you when I put it in neutral and gave it gas it was ok. My dad tried to put feul injection cleaner in it too see if it helped but it did very little...but I never knew how it got fixed because I sold it and got my stang so good luck with it and I'll be checking out why it does this too because it still bugs me...lol

I also have a 2.3 and i basically had the same problem. We replaced the tps (throttle positioning sensor) and the throttle body and it runs perfectly.
