Default Rearend swap

Hi i have a 88 cougar v6. Im planning a 5 lug swap, originally i was just gonna take the axles off a 94 sn95 stang but ive been thinking about just swaping the entire rearend. Can someome tell me if its going to be a direct swap with no problems?

Did the Cougar come with a IRS? If not then you will probably be able to do the swap with little to no problems. You can pick up a cheap rear end for less then 100 bucks and try it out. Why do you want to switch out rearends anyway?

No not for my year cougar. The mn-12 (89-97) cougars came with irs. Im slowly trying to bring my cougar back to life. Im swaping the rears and front suspension so i can have a better selection of rims to choose from for my car. And if possible somewhere down the line possible bigger brakes..... so this should be a pretty simply swap right?
