So as I keep finding more things about my recently acquired '06 V6 convertible I turn to the expertise of the forums. I emptied the trunk today, took all carpets out , spare tire, cardboard floor, jack etc. In the actual trunk floor of the car, there is whole with a rubber grommet/plug towards the front of the car, then there is another bigger hole towards the back of the car which in my case looks to have some sort of insulation material covering it? Is that supposed to be like that or is there a grommet supposed to go there? I'm suspecting if you drive over a big puddle of water, the spare tire will get wet along the whole floor, as I don't know if this is completely sealed from the bottom, and I don't want to find out until I have a clearer idea that is supposed to be that way

THis section wont give you much help as its the 94-04 v6. However to answer your question, There should be a thick rubbery/tar patch under that material sealing the hole.
