2005 V6 - 2 or 4 wheel alignment and which Moog tie rod ends w or w/o zerk fittings?
Have bad OEM outer tie rod ends. Considering replacing them with Moog TREs.
Which ones? With zerk fittings (ES80805) at about $35 each or without zerk fittings (ES80804) at about $49 each? Both have lifetime guarantees.
Will need an alignment. Since it is a RWD car does it need only a 2 wheel alignment?
If not how do you align the rear wheels?

Changed outer and inner tie rods - alignment next
After removing outer tie rod found inner tie rod very loose. Removed and replaced both. Much better stability at 60+ MPH. Will align tomorrow. Seems they charge for a 4 wheel alignment whether you need it or not.

I just replaced my tie rods with the MOOG zerk models.
The tie rod ends went bad from lack of grease and or water intrusion.
If you grease the zerks and properly maintain a constant
reserve of grease, they should last for years and years.
Once the boot tears and water gets into them,
they have a very limited life. I will be regularly greasing mine.
I counted the turns to remove each one
and reinstalled them in the same location.
Once the wheels were reinstalled, I grabbed a tape measurer
and confirmed the desired 1/4" toe. Then proceded to
center the steering wheel. 20 mins and a few test drives
later and all is well and just how I like it.
BTW
There are no adjustable front end settings (all fixed
from the factory) except for toe.
The rear end is also non OEM adjustable.
Seems they are charging you for work not being performed.
Its a non-adjustable front end OEM from the factory.
If the unibody is straight, the front end is naturally
aligned as Ford intended it to be.
Toe is the ONLY adjustable front end spec you
can change without slotting mounting holes...
The shop should know this as it has been this
way since the 2005 mustangs. They either are very stupid
or are charging you for work that is impossible to perform.
Seems like you are getting taken to the cleaners....
