Mustang LED Door Lights - Really Cool

Mustang LED Door Lights - Really Cool
I guess sometimes I miss the blatantly obvious, but I recently bought these:
http://www.automotivelightstore.com/...Projector.aspx
The instructions say "hook up to 12volts".... I scoured the internet looking for a clue on what wiring to tap into on my 2006 V6. Well, here it is in simple English - the door jamb switch is integrated into the latch mechanism in the door. There are 2 switches on this assy, the one almost against the outside door metal is the one you want. I unplugged the connector, cut the 2 wires (12v and gnd) and simply wired my lights there. You have to take the 3 screws out that hold the latch assy out to see what is going on back there, but really do not need to take the latch assy off the door to finish this. Once you know what switch it is, you can unplug it and wire from there.
I wanted the lights to come on when opening the door, but could not find where the door jamb switch was... anywhere. I looked up the part, found several web sites that showed me what the switch looked like, and I went fishing in the door til I figured it out. Hopefully this will either help someone or amuse the hell out of them, lol.
I apologize for not taking pics, by the time I figured out a plan, my hour long project had taken up most of the weekend off and on. I did not want to put the door panels all back on without victory. Oh yeah, I did try to take a picture of them after all was installed (and dark outside) but my phone camera would not pick up enough light to take a good pic. They do look really cool though, I highly recommend them as an accent!

This, at least showed me what it looked like:
http://www.oreillyauto.com/site/c/se...ang&vi=1432172
This helped with removing the panel (which I was good with):
This shows the latch assy with switch:
https://www.google.com/search?q=door...ml%3B896%3B435
Here is the location of the switch itself:
https://www.google.com/search?q=door...%3B3264%3B2448
From there I just figured it out with a voltmeter. This was part of my frustration, there was nothing I could find that simply said "look here, get your 12v and ground from here". So, to me, this thread would have been worth a LOT just knowing where to look.

This install was not bad at all, once I found out where to wire into. I knew I was looking for the door jamb switch, but it was a witch hunt to find it. The install was mostly taking the door panels off/on, drilling the hole (they provide you with a hole saw, which was nice), and tapping into the plus and gnd wires.
With the mystery taken out of it, you could do this in an hour or so if you hump it.
How long will they last? I hope for a while! The cheap ones get hot, that is why I spent the extra on these. They are not hot, especially since the hole is in the plastic door panel.. at least, that is where I drilled them. The red, white, and blue color is phenomenal though. I went to the local Mustang club meeting last night and I'll bet you I just sold about 6 sets for this company, lol. Everyone loved them. Some of the newer cars have them, that is where I got the idea. I joined the Mustang club, saw some of the newer cars with this, and went for it.
You could switch these up any way you'd like. They are a simple 2 wire setup, 12v and gnd. If you wanted to take the time to switch them I have no doubt you could. I wanted them to come on when I open the door, and turn off when closed.
Hope this novel helps...
