Shipping rims & tires

Shipping rims & tires
I may need to have four rims with mounted tires shipped from Ohio to Delaware. Although a roadtrip is still possible, my time is precious right now. Finding a free weekend is next to impossible until 2011.
So for those who have done it, is it possible to ship tires and wheels? If so, what do you recommend for the carrier and packaging?
TIA!
EDIT - Looks like Greyhound would want about $70 per wheel/tire. Doncha think that's a bit high?

Shipping will be fine and would figure probably $175~$200. I had sold a set of 4 wheels only and was $135, IIRC. I am sure with additional size/weight of tires, you will be nearer to $200.
As for packaging, it will not be as difficult as wheels only. Tires will protect the sides and only need to worry about the top/bottom. Find a cardboard box from a 40 gallon water heater and should be good. Call up some local plumbers in your area and ask them for a box of this type. They are very heavy duty, about 20" around (18" in some cases) and tall enough to fit all the wheels together with enough cardboard left to pack the ends. I had used UPS for my shipping and was fine.

Thanks Jazzer. The seller doesn't want to box and ship them - only local pick up. I have a couple of days that are free a few weeks from now, so we may do the family thing and Go West. I checked and 4 tires/wheels will fit in the back of an Explorer with weekend bags for 4 people. But if it becomes too much of a hassle then I will pass on them. The wheels are 17x8" OEM SVT 10th annivery rims for Jack's 98. I don't mind the waffles on it now, but those SVT rims are sweet.
