This stunning sale could be a sign that the Fox Body Mustang market has risen to new heights, at least, for low-mile originals.

Many of us consider the Fox Body Mustang to be a newer vehicle, one that we could easily find in nice condition for little money. However, the truth of the matter is things are quickly changing in that regard, and the very last Fox Body Mustang is now over 30 years old. That means there are fewer and fewer nice, low-mile, and especially original/unmodified Foxes out there for the taking, and as a result of that – coupled with high demand for them – prices are getting pretty lofty. Regardless, we didn’t have this 1993 Mustang LX Notchback selling for $80k on our 2025 bingo card.

This rather pristine Fox Body Mustang sold for exactly $80,000 at Bring a Trailer recently, which is a truly eye-opening figure, even for a fine example such as this. It remained in the possession of the original owner until 2021, and they clearly didn’t drive it that much – the car only has 27k miles on the clock today – and it looks like it could have just rolled off the assembly line, to boot.

The Reef Blue paint certainly adds to this pony car’s appeal, as it’s period perfect and in simply fantastic condition, covering the most coveted body style the Fox was offered in. The same is true of its 16-inch pony wheels, which are quite iconic in their own right, and things only get better as we peek inside the cabin. There, the upholstery looks like it’s never been sat in, and there’s simply no wear or tear to be found anywhere – save for a scuff on the driver’s side armrest.

Couple all of that with a clean engine bay sporting the beloved Ford 5.0-liter powerplant, as well as a sanitary undercarriage, and you’ve got one truly desirable Fox Body Mustang here, without an ounce of doubt. However, it still seems hard for most to fathom that anyone would shell out $80,000 for a regular old 5.0 LX Notchback, as that sort of money has typically been reserved for the top of the food chain Cobra.

Whether or not this is an example of more than one person really wanting a car to the point where they threw caution – and money – to the wind, or if this is the new watermark for Fox Bodies, well, that remains to be seen. What we do know is that anyone seeking a low-mile, original example from this Mustang generation should probably prepare themselves for a little bit of sticker shock.
