’74 Mustang Mod Makes Quite a Statement

There’s nothing like building it yourself when it comes to making a personal statement with a Mustang. Just ask Tom McJunkin of South Carolina who owns the 1974 Mustang II Mach 1 featured in the video below.

Since the car was given to him by his parents, Tom has been steadily beefing up the output on the Mustang, which has transformed one of Ford’s weakest performance models of the Ford pony car into a menacing piece of machinery, as highlighted in a recent Independent Mail report.

Tom’s journey started by modifying the V-6 by adding a four-barrel carb, aluminum intake, and headers, along with a few other additions. The Mustang fanatic has since added a 408-cubic-inch version of the venerable 351, which McJunkin says boosts output to an estimated 525-550 horsepower.

Tom’s Mustang is also fitted with a set of wide bias-ply Mickey Thompson tires that required some modification to the car as well.

But I’m betting it’s all eyes on that hood when this thing pulls up at a light.
