Ford Mustang Lovers Unite at Victoria Mustang Show in Canada

Despite the name, the show also contained Crown Victorias, Thunderbirds and other Blue Oval favorites.

Ford has been a major player in Canada since 1909. In fact, Ford Motor Company of Canada Ltd was its own enterprise and Ford Motor company didn’t hold shares when it started and Henry Ford personally only had 13 percent of the shares.

Ford Motor Company did eventually take control and many Ford models have been manufactured in Canada for the home market. The Mustang has not been one of those models, but it hasn’t stopped Canadians from buying and loving Mustangs. This video comes from Mustang enthusiast Cyrus Ramsey via YouTube and gives us a good look at some remarkable Canadian Mustangs.

Every generation Mustang appears to be represented, and a remarkable number of variations. Also, a Camaro for some reason. As far as standouts go, a 1965 Shelby Mustang GT350 is top of the list even if it is a replica. We wouldn’t say no to the super-fresh looking 1967 Mustang either, complete with a matching red interior.

It’s also interesting to see a GT California Special. The California Special was one of the early special edition Mustangs and based upon the Shelby GT500 prototype called “Little Red.” Only 4,100 were produced and towards the end of production some were sent to Canada for distribution. The California Special featured those 1965 Thunderbird taillights but were not, as occasionally believed, actually sequential. Some model year Cougars and Thunderbirds did feature sequential indicators, but only the 1968 Shelby used them as far as Mustangs went back then.

Old Mustangs weren’t the only thing at the show, and Ramsay found a gem of an original Crown Victoria as well as some hot rods and some cool modern Mustangs. We enjoyed this laid-back look through a window into Canadian Mustang culture, and hopefully that wasn’t Ramsay’s last video on the subject.

His obsession with cars started young and has left him stranded miles off-road in Land Rovers, being lost far from home in hot hatches, going sideways in rallycross cars, being propelled forward in supercars and, more sensibly, standing in fields staring at classic cars. His first job was as a mechanic and then trained as a driving instructor before going into media production.

The automotive itch never left though, and he realized writing about cars is his true calling. However, that doesn’t stop him from also hosting the Both Hand Drive podcast.
