‘Car and Driver’ Report Should Settle Mustang vs Camaro Debate

Ask anyone in the business of sales how good a product is, and the first thing they’ll refer you to are the numbers.

Opinions about how good a thing is mean little if anything to those who deal in bare bone statistics. For them, it’s all about the numbers when gauging the success of any product, whether its shoes or much pricier items, like cars. That’s why Car and Driver‘s report comparing the sales numbers of Mustangs to Camaros over the past 50 years is so interesting.

After all, as the two longstanding leaders in the segment, there’s no battle more epic than the one between the Mustang and the Camaro, not in the entire world of automobiles.

The Car and Driver story, written by Kirk Seaman, also features a chart that breaks down the sales numbers. And it could easily be argued that it all pretty much settles the argument that the Mustang has dominated the battle. Well, at least until 2010, with the debut of the fifth-gen Camaro.

All of which sets the stage for an interesting fight when an annual sales tally can be made between the new sixth-gen Camaro and new fifth-gen Mustang.
