It’s been nearly two years since Ford unveiled the Shelby GT350 to the public, and we still can’t stop fan-boying over the damn thing. Turns out other outlets are still focused on it, as well. Autoblog recently put up an article, “Inside the Ford Shelby GT350’s screaming V8: The why and how Ford made a flat-plane crank,” which explores the explosive powerhouse a little bit more.

Y’all know that it’s a 5.3-liter flat-plane V8 that makes 526 horsepower and 429 lb-ft of torque. Y’all know it redlines at 8,250 rpms. Y’all know that it produces one of the most tasty notes to ever come down a Mustang’s pipes. But did you know it’s 13 pounds lighter than the Mustang GT’s 5.0-liter engine and still manages to be 20-percent more powerful? It also has higher compression, and blew away the initial goal of 500 horsepower and 7,500 rpms.

If you still love reading everything about this car and its ferocious engine, check the rest of the story here, then let us know your thoughts.
