While all Mustangs hold a place in our hearts, there are a few special editions that mean quite a bit more than the rest. Whether it be the new Shelby GT350R, the wild SVT Cobra R, or in this case, the sleek SAAC Mk1 Mustang, they’re all a little more race car than they are street cars.

Our friends at MotorWeek have shared another “Retro Review” gem, and this time it’s the 1992 SAAC Mk1 Mustang that gets the spotlight. The early ’90s creation was a real game changer, and a serious step forward from the stock Mustang GT at the time.

For a hefty $39,990 bucks, the SAAC Mk1 featured a traditional white with blue stripes Shelby look, a fancier interior, and a powerful (not by today’s standards) 302 V8 pumping out 295 horsepower. In fact, MotorWeek mentions at least twice during the video, that this SAAC Mk1 Mustang is a real race car for the streets.
