Killer Mustangs Invade SoCal for 2019 Ponies at the Pike
Pretty much every kind of Mustang you can think of showed up for the first-ever spring Ponies at the Pike show.
Ponies at the Pike, which takes place in the gorgeous confines of Shoreline Park in Long Beach, California, has always been a can’t-miss event for Mustang fans in SoCal. But in past years, the event has faced many weather challenges in October. So for 2019, organizers decided to add an additional event on March 17. Needless to say, the weather was perfect and an amazing and diverse group of Mustangs showed up. And we here at Mustang Forums were there to capture all of it on film.
Organizers of Ponies at the Peak call it “California’s largest Mustang show,” and we imagine it would be hard to dispute that claim. This year’s event brought 400+ cars to Shoreline Park, and it was an incredibly diverse group. From stock first-gen, nut-and-bolt restorations to brand-new widebody show cars and everything in between. No matter which Mustang gen you’re a fan of, it was all on display in one of the most beautiful venues you’ll ever see.
Those machines were framed perfectly by a sweeping shoreline, lighthouse, and the famous water-going vessel known as the Queen Mary. The show also featured a series of special guests, vendors, raffles, and auctions for additional entertainment.
But the main attraction here, of course, is that large and interesting array of Mustangs. We spotted all kinds of cool and amazing rides, starting with some concours-quality early cars. There were some Eleanor replicas, of course, and even a wild blown ’69. We also drooled over the many Terminators on display, sprinkled among a huge gathering of S550s, of course.
The 2019 Ponies at the Pike spring show certainly didn’t disappoint, no matter what your taste in Mustangs may be. And you can bet that the fall event, taking place September 15, won’t fail to bring the heat, either!
