Mustang Cobra/Terminator vs. GT500 Shootout Rages on in 2019

Two legendary Mustang models do battle in Florida Feb.  28- March 3 and in Kentucky, Sept. 26-29.

Chances are, you’re into watching the fastest Mustangs on the planet duel it out on the drag strip. And if you are, few events compare to NMRA’s epic Mickey Thompson Cobra/Terminator vs. GT500 Shootout. This year, you’ve got two chances to watch (or participate in) this Mustang vs. Mustang action live on the track. The first event takes place at the 25th Annual NMRA Spring Break Shootout February 28 – March 3 at Bradenton Motorsports Park in Bradenton, Florida. A few months later, the action culminates with the NMRA All-Ford World Finals over the weekend of Sept. 26-29, 2019 at Beech Bend Raceway in Bowling Green, Kentucky.

This epic Mustang shootout welcomes any stock-appearing, VIN-verified ’96 to ’04 Cobra or ’07-’14 GT500. Rules state that the chassis setup must remain stock, but the more popular bolt-on mods are allowed. Tires can be street or race style out back, which gives you lots of options. And the prizes are pretty swell, too. The winner will score a $500 check, $600 Mickey Thompson gift certificate, and $1,000 Aeromotive gift certificate. Combined with cash prizes from the NMRA Contingency program, the winner could walk away with over $3,000.

“Ford and SVT have built some awesome cars with its Cobra and Shelby GT500 programs and the level of excitement from those communities is great,” shared Rollie Miller, NMRA National Event Director and General Manager, in a recent press statement. “We enjoy hosting this shootout and providing those enthusiasts an opportunity to race against each other. This year Mickey Thompson and Aeromotive are offering some great prizes on top of the cash and contingency program.”
