“Driver Mod” Improves Lap Times, Reduces Burnout-Related Accidents

If you are tired of hearing the old jokes about Mustangs crashing every time they leave a car show, maybe you should start saving up your pennies for this product. Stage 3 Motorsports is selling part number S3M-DRIVERX, which they say is an “autonomous way to get better times at the track.” That means more driver skill and less crashing. So if we can buy every bad Mustang owner one of these, we will see a massive improvement in how we are perceived in the world.

This magical wonder product is a Stage 3 Driver Mod. That’s right, Stage 3 Motorsports is offering a driver mod that “replaces that sad, flubbery creature behind the wheel of your Mustang with a capable control system.”

In case you missed it, this is a joke. The product page is actually a remnant from April Fool’s Day, but I can’t stop laughing when I see it, so I wanted to share it now. It also brings up a great point, that maybe we need to start talking about more often: every year the Mustang gets better and more capable as a performance machine, and with those upgrades, we are getting ever-greater levels of horsepower. Maybe it’s time to start pushing our new Mustang-owning friends to take some sort of advanced driver training or racing course? Nobody needs to sign up for some $4,000 Skip Barber course, but some time on a track or at a local autocross, learning to push your machine in a safe and controlled environment, would likely prevent a lot of those embarrassing YouTube videos.

If you or a loved one owns a Mustang and you are not properly trained to push its limits, maybe look into getting yourself an actual driver mod, instead of paying Stage 3 Motorsports for a fake one.
