Ford Already Working on Mid-Cycle Refresh of New Mustang

Even though the new Mustang is one of the best selling muscle cars currently on the market, Ford isn’t resting on its laurels. They are reportedly already looking towards the future and the mid-cycle refresh of the car. And according to AutoEvolution, for the pony car’s refresh, Ford is looking to revise the front end drastically.

While the changes won’t occur until 2018, the company is already hard at work creating the Mustang’s new face. Along with the revised exterior, Ford is supposedly working on a few mechanical upgrades, as well as switching the automatic versions of the Mustang to a new 10-speed automatic transmission that Ford is developing.

According to the same source, Ford is also working on a new Mach 1 variation for the new Mustang that will debut sometime near the refresh. If true, the Mach 1 nameplate will be back after an almost ten-year hiatus by the time it finally surfaces.

While these are still rumors, it all coincides with the rest of Ford’s plans across its lineup. But how in the world is Ford going to improve the looks of the new Mustang?
