A pair of LS-powered Fox bodies make ‘Cleetus & Cars’ Burnout Contest their personal burnout paradise in Las Vegas.

This weekend, we at MustangForums made our way to Vegas to check out one of the biggest car shows around, LS Fest West. As the name suggests, the affair is open to vehicles packing power from General Motors’ own LS series of V8s. Not exactly a place for die-hard fans of Fords, especially Mustangs.

And yet, we found more than a few LS-powered Mustangs hanging around while checking out LS Fest West, including this pair of Fox-body ponies smoking it up on the first day of the Cleetus & Cars Burnout Contest.

Hosted by YouTube sensation Cleetus McFarland, the one-hour contest gave any and all LS-powered machines a chance to leave the crowd in a ton of white smoke until the tires exploded or their time was up, whichever came first.

And speaking of firsts, first up for us was this mid-Eighties Mustang LX (owned and piloted by Instagrammer tealghost_bah) wearing its finest teal, black, and white.

The teal Mustang performed such an amazing show that it was too tired to leave the stage under its own power at the end, requiring the assistance of a few spectators to help it back to the garage. But as they always say, you gotta go big, or you gotta go home.

After a mid-2000s GTO was helped off the stage, it was time for this black LX to rock the house in Las Vegas. Another San Francisco Bay Area ride, this one owned by Instagrammer bayarea52_garage, whose claim to fame is that he makes cars dance. And dance this Mustang does.

The black Mustang literally smoked its way onto the stage, disappearing in a white cloud of burnt rubber before emerging on the other side. The wild stallion got so hairy on the asphalt that shortly after this sequence of badassery, its LS spilled a shot of fire to the ground.

Alas, that was also the end of the Mustang’s run, as it didn’t have a fire extinguisher to keep everything under control. But sometimes, you gotta go out in a blaze of glory, just like this pony did under the desert sun of Sin City.
