High School Team Raises $115,000 for Auto Program with Mustang

The hard work the students have put into restoring the SN-95 Mustang is being rewarded in an interesting way that’s making it quite the buzz on the Barrett-Jackson circuit.
We’ve covered a lot of interesting stories about Mustang customization projects, but none quite like this one tied to Jordan Vocational School in Columbus, Georgia.
A vocational group at the school has raised $115,000 for their school’s auto program by auctioning the 1996 model of the Ford pony car that they worked together to restore.
In fact, the vocational group, known as Team Red Jacket, will get yet another opportunity to use the same Mustang to raise more money for the school, as detailed by the Ledger-Enquirer.
The team’s winning journey started when the team first won the 2016 Quaker State “Best in Class Challenge” in December as one of five finalists in a group of 55 teams. That earned the team a chance to auction the car at a Barrett-Jackson auction in April, where it was bought by a bidder for $50,000. But after being moved by the story of how the Mustang wound up in the auction, the winning bidder turned around and gifted the car right back to the school.
The high school restoration team then decided to enter the Mustang in the Barrett-Jackson Northeast Auction. Surprisingly, the winning bidder at the second auction decided to gift the Mustang back to the school again, earning Jordan High an additional $65,000 for their program.
Now, the team is revving up to sell the car at the Barrett-Jackson auction being held in October in Las Vegas, which gives an opportunity to raise even more money for the school.
