Mustang Evades Crushing Death, Becomes SN95 Drift Monster

By -

YouTuber’s Mustang goes on a drift date with champion drifter Vaughn Gitten Jr. at Raceway Park in Illinois.

The Mustang is one versatile pony car. Whether on the strip or around the track, the Mustang conquers all with ease. But when it comes to the automotive ballet known as drifting, most would never consider our beloved car as a formidable drift machine. For them, drifting belongs to the likes of Nissan 280SXs, Toyota AE86 Corollas, and Subaru Imprezzas with the front diff removed.

We have an SN95 Mustang here to prove them wrong. YouTuber ChrisFix rescued his red wonder from a date with the crusher at a charity auction over a year ago. In that time, both he and the Mustang set out to improve upon their drift game.

For ChrisFix’s latest video with the Mustang, it’s a special day at the track. For the longest time, he has been in the lowest group at his local drift track, working on his skills with the hope of one day ascending to the next group, where the real fun starts. All he has to do today is make three good runs to gain entrance to the coveted B group.

His first lap around the back course goes well for the most part, but has to stop before running up on another drifter in his group, lest a wreck occurs between them. The next two runs go more smoothly, with no one in front of him to get in the way of taking each corner like a pro.

Upon completing the required three runs, the moment of truth occurs: ChrisFix moves up to the B group. All of the hard work putting together his skill with the Mustang’s drift-specific modifications paid off handsomely. Now, it was time to move to the front track for his B group debut before a large audience.

His first run as a B went well enough, but following the advice of one of the track stewards prior to the next run made all the difference for the rest of the day. As ChrisFix says, “if you really work at something, whatever it is you want, big or small, if you really push yourself out of your comfort zone… in the end, it will pay off with a sweet victory.”

As an added bonus, ChrisFix met with professional drifter Vaughn Gittin Jr. to take a ride in Gittin’s drift terror. The Monster Energy-powered ‘Stang smoked it up through the corners like a champion figure skater going for the gold. We can’t think of a better way to celebrate a victory like the one he experienced.
