Last week I was driving, heard a "click", looked over and saw a classic star break on the passenger side. I never saw the stone, just heard the impact. When I got home (about a 2 mile drive) I inspected it and it was about 2" from the edge and looked to be repairable. The repair was scheduled and they came out yesterday to the house to take care of it.
Ten minutes after the guy started, while he was getting more cleaning cloths out of his van, he heard "click" and walked back to my car. The star break was now a giant crack going from the edge of the windshield to about the middle of the passenger side. I think that the heat from sitting in the sun building up inside probably had something to do with it, plus starting to work on it.
Ordered an OEM replacement and it will arrive next week. I had to run to the store and by the time I got home the crack was almost to the middle of the windshield so it keeps growing.
Last year I got hit by a stone on the driver side right on the edge, which immediately cracked across. This will be the second windshield on this car.
