The price paid for illegal street racing can often have dire consequences, as is tragically evident in a recent Rancho Cucamonga, California incident.

22-year-old Jimmy Awolesi of Fontana surrendered to police on Friday after a manhunt was on for the driver of the black Mustang that fled the scene of a crime. Awolesi was allegedly racing with another Mustang that crashed into a Nissan Altima, killing the driver, Julio C. Lopez, a 46-year-old father of two, according to a KTLA report.

The other Mustang driver, a 16-year-old from Rancho Cucamonga, stayed at the scene of the crime and has been arrested on suspicion of vehicular manslaughter.

Awolesi’s Mustang was located in a nearby apartment complex and identified via photographic evidence of the horrific event.

I, for one, am glad the authorities got both these guys off the street. See, my take is that if you’re willing to take the known risks that come with street racing, then you should be man enough to deal with the outcome.
