Pikes Peak in a Twin-Turbo Mustang: POV Video

Here’s a taste of what it would be like to drive a high-revving S550 up the legendary climb.

Now here’s a ride most people won’t ever get to take. Unless you’re fortunate enough to take a twin-turbo Mustang GT up the iconic Pikes Peak International Hill Climb, that is.

Pikes Peak Ford Mustang

Never done it? Don’t feel bad: Not many people have seen the views captured in this video, pulled from a Mustang 360 report. The driver in the clip is Kash Singh, a product planner at Ford, who’s also an experienced Pikes Peak racer.

Last year, Singh entered an EcoBoost Mustang in the race, but his climb was derailed by three red-flagged runs due to weather and a couple of car crashes.

This video provides a street view of his 2017 Pikes Peak run, which wound up being his personal best, with a time of 13:22.636. Sure, there’s nothing like experiencing the drive first-hand. But the video definitely gives you a sense of what makes the race so exciting – and dangerous.

The thrill of Pikes Peak starts early on for Singh. The Ford engineer (who has driven a number of Mustangs on the climb) actually road-trips his car to compete in the race. This year’s 1,400-mile journey started in Washington before ending up in Colorado. How’s that for a warm-up run?
