Porsche/Shelby Mustang Wreck Sends Engine Flying

The Porsche’s engine landed some 650 feet up the road after the collision.

The details are a little murky as to what actually contributed to this accident involving a Shelby GT500 and a Porsche. But the damage to the vehicles is pretty clear.

According to the Daily Mail, the Shelby was totally mangled after colliding with a Porsche on a bridge in England, which shut down the freeway for five hours. As you can see from the photos, the Porsche was pretty banged up, as well.

Most of the damage to the Mustang seems to have occurred in the front of the car. In contrast, the rear of the Porsche was far more mangled than the front.

Some eyewitness reported seeing one of the engines to the vehicles sliding across the highway after the cars struck the bridge’s side metal rail. In fact, the engine to the Porsche was thrown some 200 meters (or 656 feet) up the road, according to the Daily Mail.

Thankfully, local police authorities say there were only minor injuries suffered as a result of the crash, which seems pretty hard to believe. But needless to say, the Porsche and Shelby GT have likely seen their last days of driving on a highway. Or anywhere else, for that matter.

Like we said, there’s no mention of what actually caused the accident. But we’re willing to bet that speed played a major factor.
