Drive a Hot Wheels Mustang in New Forza Horizons 3 Expansion

Wild S197 diecast and SEMA build comes to Forza’s broad digital world.

The new Hot Wheels-themed Forza Horizons 3 expansion promises a special surprise for Mustang fans: the 2005 Hot Wheels Mustang. Not only was the Hot Wheels version particularly awesome, but Action Vehicle Engineering completed a real-world replica of it for the 2014 SEMA show in Las Vegas. As of today, Forza Horizons 3 players will be able to virtually drive the Hot Wheels Mustang on their XBox One or Windows 10.

The SEMA build nailed all the exaggerated aspects you’d expect. The foot-slicing splitter sticks well out front from the bumper. Super-wide Falken Azenis tires (we think) adorn the ‘05 Mustang with giant fender flares covering them, barely. The color scheme is classic Hot Wheels, with loud electric-purple paint and eye-searing orange accents. Mismatched wheels and a dare-you-to-knock-me-off oil cooler on the splitter complete the drifter/bosozoku look. And throw on a ducktail-style spoiler for a planted rear end during those dorifto maneuvers. If you’re a diehard Forza and Mustang fan, you surely already own the 2005 Hot Wheels Mustang as part of the Hot Wheels Car Pack released in 2016 for Forza Motorsport 6.

The Forza Horizons 3 Hot Wheels expansion also expands the world with Australian islands reachable only by the orange Hot Wheels track that we know from our childhood diecast mazes. From the video above, it sure looks incredible. The rest of the Hot Wheels expansion includes a mix of popular Hot Wheels customs and real-world cars. It may not be a Mustang, but we’re pretty excited for the Australian Chrysler Valiant Charger, too.
