For Sale: 1997 SVT Cobra With International Background

This SVT Cobra Offers the Best of 1990’s Performance for an Affordable Price

We all love a good SVT Cobra. They’re fast, easily modified, and they produce a healthy dose of fun for not too much money. In some cases, they can also have some pretty special stories, too. Such is the case with this 1997 SVT that was originally sold in Japan, before getting shipped off to Canada.

This SVT puts a 4.6-liter DOHC V8 to work. It was good for 305 horsepower, when new. Putting the power down is a 5-speed Borg Warner transmission that still has the original clutch, according to the Bring-A-Trailer listing. Overall, the powertrain is in decent shape, with roughly 87,000 miles on the clock. Exterior condition is also good, with only a few of the panels showing wear in the Diamond White paint.

Inside is where things get somewhat dicey, as the ominous late-’90s leather has certainly seen its fair share of use. The front seats bear the brunt of the issue, but then again not many people can fit in the back seat anyway. A re-wrap of the seats would greatly enhance the overall look of the vehicle. Speaking of modifications, there really aren’t any, save for a Japanese radar detector fitted to the dash, which will only serve as an ornament here in the States.

Bumps and bruises aside, this SVT is still a wildly fun car to anyone looking for an all-business muscle car. And for the current bid price of less than $4,000, it poses quite the value too. Don’t you think?
