A while back I posted asking peoples opinions on white lettered tires on their stangs. I would say about 80% of people thought it was a dumb idea. What I decided to do sounds a bit silly, but I went for it anyway. I bought a little white tire pen just to see what it would look like on my stock 18" g-force BFG's. So far all I've had time to do is fill in the g-force part and it looks KILLER! I understand putting some tire paint on a $30k car sounds CHEAP, but after a second coat I think it'll look ridiculous....(in a good way). It takes a lot of time however to make it look like it's meant to be there and not smeared on there with a piece of chalk. With that said, I'm expecting about 8 hrs to do all 4 with a couple coats. After I have completed my little project I will try post some pics to show you guys and gals what I'm talking about.

Everyone has their own opinions, but I have a hard time understanding yours if you don't think this looks NASTY COOL! If you disagree with me, I accept your opinion and realize we're all driving sweet cars anyway!

This car is still making me smile!!!
The retro look is what the s197's are all about. White lettered tires simply compliment that.

Very nice! Those 80% need to be shot. Unfortunately with my Pirelli's it'll look stupid, but with those it looks great. I've always been a fan of the white lettering on the tires. I'm green with envy.

Cool, it would be even better if the letters were a little bigger; good job...

That looks great !!! I always buy white letter tires for my Cougar.

The white lettering or some red line tires will work well with these mustangs.

They look awesome! Now send all of the major tire companies a link to this thread. Maybe FORD can make the change for new Mustangs. The raised white letters really make sense.

Looks excellent. Keep us posted on how long the white lettering lasts.

Thanks for all the compliments....I think I'm starting to blush! Now if I can get my wife to drive the car (5spd) so I can watch the wheels spinning, I'll probably wet myself again. Thanks guys!

I forgot to mention that I was thinking about adding a boss-style side stripe....perhaps white or silver. Not sure if I want people asking me at the pump whether it's a '69 or '70 though. haha!

Do you guys think that would look good?...or too much?

It's supposed to rain all weekend, so I can let you know how it holds up after some wet conditions.

I'm a fan of the stripe as long as it doesn't say BOSS on it. Nothing wrong with some old school heritage, but unless it's truely a BOSS, leave off the BOSS. Just my $.02
